About Us
The Wonder Society - Mock Trial Academy was founded by a licensed and currently practicing VA attorney with 12 years of coaching experience. The goal is to give kids ages 8–11 years old an introduction to how arguments are actually made — and won.
Our Mock Trial Academy is one of the first of its kind, to the extent we focus on pre-middle school aged student. Young advocates will learn to:
Build an argument, not just state an opinion — how to take a position and support it with facts and reasoning, not just assertion.
Weigh evidence like a lawyer does — evaluating which arguments are strong, which are weak, and what actually holds up.
Present and perform with confidence — speaking clearly, thinking on their feet, and holding a room's attention.
Get a real introduction to the justice system — how courts work, what lawyers actually do, and why the process matters.
Each session builds toward a live final showcase, where every child argues a real case in front of family and friends — putting every skill they've practiced into action.
What Does a Typical Case Look Like?
The Case of the Borrowed Lunchbox
It's lunchtime at Wonder Elementary, and someone's lunchbox has gone missing. The defendant says they simply borrowed it. The victim says it was taken without asking. Was it theft, or an honest mistake?
Set in places kids already know — the cafeteria, the playground, the bus line — each case gives students a real fact pattern to investigate and argue, built entirely around situations elementary schoolers understand firsthand.
Every trial includes a full courtroom—
Lawyers who build the case and question witnesses;
Witnesses who testify to what they saw;
The judge who runs the proceeding; and
The jury who decides the verdict.
Students deliver opening statements, question witnesses on the stand, and perform closing arguments — building the same case-construction skills real trial attorneys use.
